I not very knowledgeable on computer, but I would like to learn. I have a HP computer(n8020m), I am not interested on the manual for the computer, I have it or I could download it from HP web page. The manual is a general understanding of the computer, I would like to be able to repair and disassemble the components of the computer. Obviously I am not gonna do it if my computer is working good, which it is, but I have that passion to take out the optical driver for instance and clean it and maintain it, the video card, etc. I am a very cautious person and I would not work on a component without knowing how, but if I have a guide I enjoy doing it.|||You are dismissing the HP support site too quickly !
I repair PCs and find the site invaluable for finding information.
For most HPs, visiting the support site will allow you to get the "service and maintenance" manual not just the user guide and that manual shows you how to take apart and repair your machine.
Here how to find it:
Look at the sticker on your machine and note down the EXACT model number (this is important as HP likes to market a zillion variations of the same model)
Go here: http://www.hp.com/#Support and choose "See support and troubleshooting information" in step 1 then enter your EXACT model number in step 2 and press the "GO" button.
On the page you land on, look for the "manuals" link and click it.
On this other page, find the Service and maintenance guide (It's usually the biggest (in megabytes) manual present there), right-click and save on your computer locally (it is a PDF file so make sure you have the reader for it)|||It depends if you really dedicated to computers as i grew up with computers starting with a 286 dos pc and been fixing them for like 10 years now i started by taking an old system that dont work read what the components said like athlon x2 or 360w PSU power supply unit or finding out motherboard name and nuber etc and study what it means by using wikipedia.org or take a book from a library and look for computing or taking books out on microprocessors or ordering BTEC national diploma level 1 book from ebay or booksops. College is a good place its how i advanced from learning PCB's, BIOS, BASIC, Binary, Dual channel, hyperthread etc to Starting my own business in computing.
