Having a lag issue that I do not believe is related to my video card, any ideas?

My laptop recently died, but before it did, it would display things on it's own well, but when I tried to interact with it, like close a page or click the start menu, it could take 20 minutes for it to actually show up that I'd clicked it if it did at all. I repaired it last night with the VIsta Repair ISO, and now it's running, but it started doing the same thing again within a couple hours. Any ideas?|||sounds like either driver issues or maybe its overheating
